Founded in the lush jungles of Costa Rica, getLIGHT was born from my journey of profound transformation — a journey that began with severe digestive issues, explored the power of plant medicine, and ultimately led me to discover the incredible potential of herbal detoxification. My mission was simple yet ambitious: to uplift the mental and physical well-being of leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers worldwide. getLIGHT exists to empower individuals to live at their highest frequency through the potent combination of herbs, detoxification methods, and food as medicine. Here's how it all began.
My First Wake-Up Call
My story starts with a devastating loss. I watched my mom pass away at just 59, surrounded by machines, doctors, and medications that couldn't save her. I witnessed firsthand the limitations of our modern healthcare system and the shortfalls of allopathic medicine. Her passing left me with what felt like a "choiceless choice" — either learn how to protect my body and health or face a similar fate. By 2009, I had given up pork (goodbye, bacon!), and by 2014, I'd committed to a vegetarian lifestyle. I thought I was living well, doing everything "right." I bought organic, stayed active, and devoured information on health. Yet, I hadn't considered the long-term impact of my earlier years — a childhood filled with sugar, processed foods, and artificial ingredients. It wasn't until 2020 that these past choices would catch up to me, leading to my second wake-up call.
Finding Myself in Costa Rica
In 2020, a short family trip to Costa Rica turned into an extended stay that has lasted over four years. Costa Rica was a paradise of clean water, fresh food, and a close-knit community, fulfilling our every need. I was living near the beach, enjoying incredible fruits, and had started exploring plant medicine — Ayahuasca specifically — which had opened my mind and heart in ways I hadn't imagined. Yet, despite being surrounded by paradise, I began to struggle. My energy was low, my mind felt foggy, and I was losing the vitality I'd always prided myself on. As I poured my resources into a long-term sustainability project, my physical and financial health started to crumble. Eating felt like a burden, and my body seemed unable to process what I was consuming — or what I was feeling. Stress had become a constant. My digestive system was at the heart of it all. My second wake-up call had arrived.
The Gut Connection
One day, while listening to a talk by my dear friend and mentor, Sevan Bomar, I heard him speak about the powerful connection between gut health and creativity, energy, and abundance. His words hit me like a lightning bolt. My gut. Suddenly, I had a name for what was dragging me down. This revelation brought a sense of relief and urgency, pushing me to dive into research and experimentation. I started with fermented foods, herbal teas, and homeopathic remedies like chamomile and plantain, hoping for relief. Then, while digging through my stash of supplements, I found a "digestive stimulator" and took a few tablets. Almost instantly, I felt a fiery warmth in my belly — the first real sign of life in a long time. My body was responding! This moment was a breakthrough, sparking a deep dive into herbal remedies and, eventually, parasite cleansing — an unfamiliar concept that held the key to my healing journey.
The First Cleanse
Embarking on a parasite cleanse was no small task. My research suggested that to impact the life cycle of parasites, a cleanse had to last at least 28 days. I committed to six weeks of herbal teas, dietary adjustments, weekly enemas, and saltwater flushes. The results were both physical and metaphysical. As I cleansed, I began to encounter people, situations, and even foods that seemed to "test" my resolve. These synchronicities became constant reminders of my commitment. I met people who were curious, even eager to join me on this journey. Each encounter affirmed the magnetic power of these herbs, helping me attract what I truly desired while repelling energies and relationships that no longer served me. As I cleansed, I felt myself shedding not only physical impurities but also mental and emotional weight. My perspective shifted, and I began to see the world — and my place in it — with clarity I hadn't known before.
Transformation and Alignment
The experience was so profound that I repeated the cleanse immediately. During my second round, the synchronicities became undeniable. I received a surprise $6,000 down payment for a car, my living situation shifted, and I began to recognize and release toxic dynamics in my life. Through this intense period of clarity, I was able to break free from limiting beliefs and unhealthy relationships, stepping fully into my purpose. I felt lighter, freer, and more aligned than ever. It was during this phase that I began sharing my experience with others. People were fascinated, but I quickly learned that interest alone wasn't enough. Without personal investment and commitment, people rarely followed through. This realization solidified my understanding that true transformation requires both guidance and dedication. I knew then that it was time to create something more structured and accessible — a way to guide people through their own transformative journeys with the support they needed.
The Birth of getLIGHT
In that pivotal moment, my personal healing journey became the foundation for a business that could empower others. I launched getLIGHT with a humble approach: herbal detox kits in simple packaging, each containing a protocol, a handwritten label, and a vision for change. Those early kits sold for less than $100, but they represented so much more — the power of nature, the wisdom of herbal medicine, and the resilience of the human spirit. Today, getLIGHT has reached people across five countries, delivering transformative programs that reconnect individuals with their health, their purpose, and their light. I am humbled and grateful for this journey and am deeply committed to helping others find the clarity, energy, and freedom that this path has brought me.
